Background
Even though Telko AS is a small company, we create large products. And this is our primary focus; Product Development. We have no sales or marketing personell, and the administration overhead is minimal. Our managing director is himself a developer on our major products, in line with most of our personell.
We have 6 employees and delivered a turnover of 11,14 million NOK in 2005. Three of our employees are developers, one a sevice and production technician, one handles quality assurance, and one is in charge of accounting and administration. From our offices on Tjøme, Norway, we serve a large and growing fleet of users of our marine navigation solutions. We mainly deliver to the norwegian market, but we also export to Iceland, Spain and China (among others).
We are not a consulting firm. We take initiative to development of new products ourselves, based on our knowledge of niche markets and feedback from our parners and social networks. Nonetheless, expertise is our strongest resource. Major corporations such as Ericsson AB and Telenor have previously turned to us for telephony technical solutions, and our products are market leaders in electronic charting and other navigational aids in the marine sector. Here as well, we have delivered solutions where other, much larger players have folded.
We have existed since 1974 and have now been in full operation in more than 37 years. Even though we on several occations have had the opportunity to grow along with our products, we have opted to stay "small" throughout this period. Business areas such as sales, distribution, marketing, customer support and so on have been delegated to partners with these functions and customer contact already in place.
Our size makes us flexible. Our product development is rapid and efficient without being burdened by the communication and structure needs present in a larger organisation. And if the market situation changes, we have the agility to quickly change focus and establish new products for new niches. Where the norm for IT comanies often is "Grow fast, die young", our flexibility and size have allowed us to survive and prosper though market changes that rapidly would have broken a larger business.
We have both the experience, expertise and expectations we need to thrive in the market as a flexible and competent product development unit for yet another 37 years.
